“Can you make a giant Monkey and float him down the river?”

These are the phone calls that I dream of - the ones that might let us loose on a really fantastic journey. And coming from our pals at W communications, we knew that they really meant it.

Luckily, we’ve done lots of things on the river over the years, and knew that a quick call to Ed at Livetts would sort out all the boats we needed. Beyond that, it’s just a case of building a giant monkey that looks like its made of green tea plants. Easy!

PG TIPS GREEN TEA MONKEY

We have, over the years, floated several large objects along the Thames. Not all at once. Helped by our friends at Livetts Launches, we took over a floating pontoon barge and assembled a giant sculpure of the PG Tips Monkey.

We used a 3d scan of the actual puppet used in the adverts to creat our 3d model, and from that, a plywood core. Much researching of possible foliage led us to find that artificial box hedge is a great match visually for green tea plants. The rest is a process of assembly. And then disassembly, and re-assembly somewhere else. And repeat.
