“A Jukebox for Cocktails”

Our long term collaborator Richard Moss of Rogue Projects came to us with an amazing brief - to invent a Cocktail Jukebox for a new whisky, Glenmorangie X.

We did extensive work together on concepts, looked at many classic jukeboxes and then took it firmly into the future with screens, a banging sound system and a dramatic cocktail delivery. Lights, sounds, videos, movement and just a little bit of smoke and mirrors.

We developed this in two directions in parallel - one side looking at concepts and aesthetics, and a working test rig that would automate pouring a cocktail.

The functional side is based on an industrial PLC running some custom code, a couple of media players and some commercial bar type plumbing, complete with a custom machined cocktail delivery head. And a fridge. Very important to get a cold drink at the end of a project like this.

The build of the shell features a Corian stage, with side lighting for a bit of drama while the rest of the body is laminated. It’s both durable and colourful. And a 3d machined black Corian platter, a nod to the origins of this design.
