Client: Philips amBX
We were commissioned by Philips electronics to design / construct and deliver a unique exhibition stand to promote the launch of their amBX computer gaming peripherals at an American computer show.
Initially we worked in conjunction with Jump Architects who came up with the visual concept. This took the form of the amBX logo extruded to create a dynamic eye catching shape that could contain demonstration and meeting rooms within.
From the initial visual concepts it was over to us to come up with a constructional design that would address all the issues and logistics involved in creating a one off stand for a specific show in a foreign country.
The stand was built in our workshops in the UK. In conjunction with Philips engineers to fulfil the complicated A.V. requirements of their pioneering new technology.
It consisted of a steel skeleton clad with curved polycarbonate panels detailed with a curved lightbox. The whole structure had two Demo / Meeting rooms in the rear of the stand accessed via stairs located under the front canopy. This front section was cantilevered out into space to create uninhibited access under the stand and a dynamic visual sense of the stand defying gravity.
Inside the demo rooms were wired to create an all round sensory experience involving surround sound, lighting up walls vibrating floors and blowing fans.
It was then disassembled into components / loaded into containers and shipped to the states, where we worked in conjunction with an American company to build it for the show.
It was a triumph at the show and stood out a mile from the more conventional shell scheme stands of the competition.
It has gone on to be a fantastic success for Philips as a marketing tool and we have since exhibited it for them at a number of shows across the States and here in the UK.
